Sarah & Joe are such a sweet couple! I met Sarah and her Mom and the Central Oregon Wedding and Events Show in early January. After meeting with Sarah and her fiance Joe (and Mom aka their planner), they decided to book me for their August wedding at Skyliner’s Lodge. I’m so excited for their outdoor wedding! They both were really eager to have their engagement photo session, as they want to get save the date cards out. We chose a chilly day at the end of January, but the love between these two kept them warm! I encourage all of my wedding clients to choose the locations they want for their engagement photos, as I want the location to reflect their personalities. I couldn’t be more happy with the places Sarah & Joe chose!

We started the session at the First Street Rapids Park in Bend, OR. It’s a gorgeous natural park along the banks of the Deschutes River. This park is where Sarah & Joe used to spend so many summer evenings. Sarah lived a block away and they would walk to the park, fishing gear in tow, and head to their special rock at their favorite fishing hole.

The Deschutes River is a special place for many engaged couples in Bend.

As the sun was dropping behind the walls of the river canyon, we packed up and headed to their second location, an industrial area of Bend that is beginning to see some revitalization. I loved the grungy aspect to this site! Sarah & Joe were perfectly dressed to suit the vibe of the second half of their session. The old warehouses, beat up doors, and views of the smokestacks at the Old Mill set the tone. I’m really digging these and I hope you do too!

I love reflections so when I saw this standing water I’m pretty sure I squealed with delight!

As the sun was starting to set, the gorgeous Central Oregon sky was beginning to change color.

I really loved these blue doors and after Sarah told me she had a thing for doors, I knew this would be perfect!

Just as we were wrapping up the session, the sky turned a brilliant orange. It’s not everyday that you get a sunset like this here in Central Oregon. So, I’ll leave you with these parting shots. I’m thrilled Sarah & Joe chose me to photograph their wedding. Their love for each other is beautiful and strong!
