I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
It was the busy 4th of July holiday weekend and the original location Andrea and Andy wanted for their engagement session was going to be teaming with crowds of people. So, after some discussion we decided to go with a change in location for their Tumalo Falls engagement photos. We started out at the overlook for gorgeous Tumalo Falls, before heading down the path closer to the falls and then the trail through the woods following Tumalo Creek. After an incredibly snowy winter, the area was super wet and lush, meaning it was also thick with mosquitoes. After enduring about a billion bites each, we decided to wrap up the falls section and head to Tumalo Reservoir for some gorgeous mountain views. The light on the warm July evening was stunning! Here are some of my favorite photos from Andrea & Andy’s Tumalo Falls engagement photos session.
Andrea & Andy met through mutual friends at a birthday party celebration for Andrea 4 years ago. They got a great laugh at how similar their names were, but quickly realized their similarities didn’t stop there. They discovered they lived across the street from each other, they both were Oregon State University alumni, they each have only one sibling, both of which are older brothers and big time gamers. Their parents have both been married over 35 years and both of their mothers are older than their fathers, and Andrea is also older than Andy. They also share the same favorite drink, a whiskey & coke! I truly think these two were destined to be together, don’t you?
Andy completely surprised Andrea by proposing to her while they were on a little road trip through Western Oregon. They started their trip in Hood River, and then headed to Portland to see their favorite band, The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The next day they decided to head to the coast and took the route through Corvallis because they wanted to stop for lunch at their favorite Hawaiian restaurant they would frequent when attending OSU. Andy decided to take a little detour to show Andrea his grandparents family farm. When they arrived, they walked around the farm while Andy reminisced about growing up and spending time on the farm with his cousins and family. As they were walking back to the car, Andy told Andrea he had one more thing to show her, and when she turned around, he was down on one knee. Of course she said yes! Coincidentally, the farm is also where Andy’s father proposed to his mother all those years ago. Just another similarity they share!
The light peeking through the amazing Junipers out at Tumalo Reservoir was absolutely stunning on this gorgeous warm July evening! It’s light like this that I live for as a photographer.
I really had a wonderful time getting to know Andrea & Andy during their Tumalo Falls engagement photos and I can’t wait for their wedding at Ranch at the Canyons this coming Saturday! It’s a gorgeous venue and seems to be the perfect spot for these two.
If you loved this location, be sure to check out Halley & Ryley’s engagement session along Tumalo Creek.
