I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
Mary & Andrew are craft beer lovers, but their original plans did not involve a Worthy Brewing Wedding. When we initially met over a drink at the Oregon Whiskey Distiller, Mary & Andrew told me of their plans to marry at Elk Lake Resort in September.
Well, fast forward to the first week of September, there’s a huge wildfire raging in the Cascades, and the resort is on a level 2 evacuation notice (meaning be ready to leave at a moment’s notice). It’s become clear that their mountain wedding is not going to happen and they need to find a new venue quickly!
Mary emails me asking for help to find another venue, and I get to work thinking of smaller wedding venues that fit the bill and might be available on such short notice. Worthy Brewing had just completed a huge expansion earlier in the year, offering up a unique event space, as well as their signature Hopservatory, an observatory with a giant telescope to view the stars and planets above! They had the date open and Mary & Andrew fell in love with the unique urban location wrapped up in a craft brewery. It was the perfect spot for their intimate Worthy Brewing Wedding!
Mary & her girls got ready at a vacation rental close to downtown Bend, while Andrew & the guys used a camping trailer generously donated by their DJ, Chris of Muchmore Productions. They parked the trailer in the brewery parking lot and the guys had a mobile getting ready location!
After the first look, we took a walk around the property and used the gorgeous gardens, with the hop vines and beautiful flowers, for some romantic portraits. The grounds around the brewery are maintained by the Worthy Garden Club, and the hops grown are used in the beers brewed at the facility. It’s such a unique brewery in Bend, Oregon and really made Mary & Andrew’s Worthy Brewing Wedding special!
After the first look and romantic outdoor romantic portraits, we got the wedding party together for some formal portraits, as well as some fun shots of them enjoying the fresh craft beer at Worthy Brewing!
Mary made her way down the spiral staircase, from the Hopservatory, to meet up with Andrew at the alter adorned with sunflowers. But, in a fun little wedding snafu, the tulle from her dress caught on the stairs, sending Mary buckling over in laughter! This girl knows how to roll with the punches, and that’s so important on your wedding day. She’s definitely a laid-back bride and exactly who I resonate with!
The industrial aspect of the brewing facility is a stark contrast to the beautiful floral gardens outside the property and really provided great variety for portraits.
The Bend VW Photo Bus was just getting set up as we finished the indoor brewing facility photos, so we had the chance to take some fun photos of Mary & Andrew before it was open for the rest of their guests!
After dinner, a few toasts are said by Mary & Andrew’s closest friends and family. The artwork and open air space of the Beermuda Triangle space add a colorful backdrop to the reception space.
As guests were making their way downstairs to the Hop Mahal, the indoor space where dancing and the rest of the reception would take place, Mary & Andrew went into the Hopservatory, to look through the giant telescope and see the stars. It was such a cool experience and we got to see Saturn! If you haven’t been, I highly recommend checking it out!
Finally, it was time for the cute couple to make their grand entrance, and begin their first dance. After that, Andrew danced with his mom, and then Chris, the DJ, got the party started and had everyone out on the dance floor!
It was time to cut the cake and enjoy before the guests lined up for a glow stick send-off!
Mary & Andrew are one of the kindest, most sincere couples I’ve had a chance to work with, and it truly was an honor to photograph their Worthy Brewing Wedding! I had a blast with these two, and their friends & family. I know how hard it is when plans are totally changed, but these two took it all in stride and made the best of the situation. And, I’m pretty sure that Worthy Brewing is now their favorite brewery in Bend!

Looks like the change of venue worked out just fine! Love all the sunflowers!
I agree! 🙂
You had me at beers and stars! What an amazing wedding at a really cool venue
Right? It’s definitely a super cool venue! 🙂
Bend is the best! I love those shots of them in the brewery!
It’s a shame that they couldn’t marry in the mountain but you’re right, Worthy Brewing made such a great backdrop for their wedding! Wonderfully captured!
WHHATT! These are so fun!! Looks like an amazing day and you captured it so well!!
So fun that their wedding took place at a brewery, what a cool location! I love it, great images!
I can relate to this! We had a hurricane hit our honemoon destination and had to scramble to make other plans. This was also 18 years ago when things were a little less digital. So stressful! It looks like they found the perfect venue:) Beautifully documented, Erica!
Beermuda triangle! Love it! You cannot go wrong with Brewery weddings. Gorgeous 🙂
This venue looks like it was made for them! You did a great job creating creative, beautiful photos. <3
What a fun venue for a wedding! Also love her sparkly shoes!
