I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
It was an absolutely gorgeous day in October when I met Brittany & Michael for their fall Shevlin Park engagement photography session. Michael grew up in Bend and Shevlin Park holds many fond memories for him. Brittany & Michael live in Portland, but are planning a New Year’s Evening at Five Pine Lodge in Sisters, and wanted to have their engagement photos done in Central Oregon this fall as well. We all had a blast walking around the park, with the aspen trees in their full golden glory.
After their formal attire, Brittany & Michael changed their outfits into super cute flannel shirts and jeans for the second half of their fall Shevlin Park engagement photography session. We crossed the gently flowing Tumalo Creek and headed up the hillside for views of the Cascade Mountains from the top of the ridge. By this time, these two were naturals in front of my camera!
Finally, we got to the top of the ridge, and were awarded with the gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountains. I seriously never tire of this view! The clouds that day added some beautiful dimension to the sky.
Brittany & Michael also wanted a few pictures with their Seattle Seahawks jerseys when we were at the top of the ridge. It’s not very often your names are found on the jerseys of the same team!
As we headed back down the hill, the sunset actually became quite glorious! We didn’t stay up at the top because we wanted to get a few photos of these two cuties wading in Tumalo Creek. We were racing the light, but managed to get a beautiful photo of the salmon sunset before it quickly faded away. I love silhouettes with the sunset, but I couldn’t quite find the right background to make that happen. However, a standing dead tree and rich blue sky right behind us made an absolutely remarkable backdrop for a silhouette under a beautiful crescent moon.
To wrap up our fall Shevlin Park engagement photography session, I convinced Brittany & Michael that they needed to get into Tumalo Creek! It didn’t take much convincing, although Brittany did scream a little when her feet hit the icy cold water. Totally worth it!
I had the best time getting to know Brittany & Michael a bit more during their fall Shevlin Park engagement photography session and I can’t wait for their New Year’s Eve wedding! The snow has been falling in Central Oregon and Brittany’s dream of a winter wedding at Five Pine Lodge in Sisters, OR is about to come true. I just know it’s going to be an amazing wedding!
If you are recently engaged and looking for a custom engagement photography session, I’d love to talk! Be sure to contact me and let’s chat.
