I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
Matt & Courtney are truly a perfect couple, you can tell the second you see the way they look at each other. Their love is deep, strong, and undeniable. Within just a few minutes of meeting them, I knew their Dutchman Flats engagement session was going to be pure magic.
As an elopement and engagement photographer in Bend, I live for these kinds of love stories. Matt & Courtney’s story is special, and I felt honored to capture it in such a stunning location.
We met in true Bend fashion, at the parking lot of a local brewery, before carpooling up the Cascade Lakes Highway together for their snowy adventure. They brought their gorgeous dog along for the session, a total bonus for me since I adore when couples include their pups.
The drive up was filled with conversation about how they met, their wedding plans, and all the little pieces of life they share. By the time we pulled into Dutchman Flats Sno-Park, the three of us already felt like old friends.
January in Central Oregon can often mean freezing temps and layers of heavy jackets, but this particular afternoon was unseasonably warm, ideal for an outdoor shoot. Matt & Courtney were able to relax and be themselves without bulky coats or hats, and the golden winter light was absolute perfection.
The sun dipped low behind Mount Bachelor, casting a dreamy glow across the wide open snowfields of Dutchman Flats. Broken Top lit up in the background, giving us one of those iconic Central Oregon winter sunsets that feels almost unreal.
If you’re planning your own engagement session in Bend, Dutchman Flats is a location I always recommend. The sweeping mountain views, expansive snowfields in winter, and easy access right off the Cascade Lakes Highway make it a photographer’s dream. Whether you want cozy, intimate vibes or adventurous, playful photos, Dutchman Flats offers a stunning backdrop that highlights the beauty of Central Oregon.
Here are a few of my favorite images from Matt & Courtney’s Dutchman Flats engagement session. I love how their joy, connection, and deep love shine through in every single frame.
