I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
I met Kasey & Louie over a beer at Broken Top Bottle Shop on a cold, snowy January evening. When Louie told me he had some brewing skills, I knew we were going to get along just fine! As we talked about their wedding plans, I learned they both enjoyed camping and hiking and wanted to be sure their engagement session reflected their love of the outdoors. So, when it came time to plan, it was only fitting these two chose Shevlin Park and Soda Creek for their Cascade Mountain engagement photography session.
As we wandered through the tall pines of Shevlin Park, I learned that a perfect date night for these two consists of dinner out at a new brewery if they are traveling, or else a nice dinner followed by wine and a movie at home. They also love a good camping trip complete with roasting marshmallows over the campfire. When asked if they prefer the beach or mountains, they said they love both and can’t decide (I totally get that, me too)!
After we wrapped up the first half of Kasey & Louie’s engagement photos in Shevlin Park, we drove up the Cascade Lakes highway towards Soda Creek. The warm July evening was an absolutely perfect time along the creek, but we were definitely battling some serious mosquitoes! Kasey & Louie took it in stride though and I doused myself in bug spray not wanting to relieve my last engagement session at Tumalo Falls the week before!
I decided to play a little game with Kasey & Louie and asked them to make up a secret handshake that involved 6 different “shakes.” However, there was a catch! They couldn’t actually use their hands. Oh my goodness, these two had me dying laughing!!!! By the time the 6th shake rolled around, they were laughing hysterically too.
We wandered around the large, lush meadow that surrounds Salt Creek, finding pockets of shade and waiting for the sun to begin to dip below the horizon. I asked Louie how he proposed to Kasey. They were at home, in their living room, just celebrating Christmas with the two of them the night before they were to go to the Valley to see their families. They were exchanging stockings and when Kasey reached the bottom of hers she found a little black box and immediately knew what it was. Apparently, in all her excitement she said yes before Louie even had a chance to ask! They followed up the evening by heading to one of their favorite places for dinner, Three Creeks Brewing (they love beer as much as I do)!
With views like this, it’s no wonder Kasey & Louie chose Soda Creek for their Cascade Mountain engagement photography session! I’m so excited for their wedding this coming Saturday at Hollinshead Barn. The fall color should be absolutely perfect!
