I’m a wedding & elopement photographer for laid back couples that value the idea of being married more than just having a party. They want photos that show their true selves and represent their love of nature, and prefer to be more natural than overly posed.
If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding that has breathtaking mountain views, cozy vibes, and all the adventure Central Oregon has to offer, Sunriver Resort might just be your perfect match. Nestled between the Cascade Mountains and Oregon’s high desert, this destination resort is surrounded by flowing waters, fragrant pines, and about 300 days of sunshine every year.
As a local Oregon elopement & intimate wedding photographer, I have captured many gorgeous days at this incredible venue and the Sunriver area, and every single one has been unforgettable. If you’re considering getting married here, here’s everything you need to know about planning your Sunriver Resort wedding!
Sunriver Resort is one of those venues that really has it all. You’ve got gorgeous ceremony and reception spaces, delicious on-site dining, on-site lodging for you and your guests, and endless adventure activities nearby.
One of my favorite things about Sunriver is the flexibility it offers. With both indoor and outdoor options, you’ll always have a beautiful backup plan no matter the season. And the surroundings are absolutely beautiful to wander around and capture all those sweet newlywed moments!
If you’re traveling in, the closest airport is Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), which is about 45 minutes away. Portland International Airport (PDX) is about a 3.5-hour drive and has more flight options if you’re coming from farther away.
Renting a car is the easiest way to get around, and in the winter months, you’ll want to make sure your vehicle has snow tires or chains.
Sunriver Resort is located at 17600 Center Drive, Sunriver, OR 97707
If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding ceremony with sweeping mountain views, the Mt. Bachelor Lawn is a stunning option. It has space for up to 350 guests and is framed by cute pine trees. It’s the kind of spot where you can say your vows under endless blue skies, with the sun dipping behind the mountains during golden hour portraits.
After your ceremony, most couples move inside to the Great Hall—Sunriver Resort’s most iconic indoor venue. With hand-peeled timber beams, soaring ceilings, a spiral staircase, and two grand stone fireplaces, it brings rustic elegance to a whole new level.
Perfect for smaller weddings of up to 80 guests, the Homestead Lawn is tucked among the trees, offering a charming and intimate outdoor ceremony space.
For the reception, the Heritage Room offers an inviting, warm atmosphere with wood finishes and just the right amount of charm. It’s a great option if you want an indoor/outdoor flow without the scale of the Great Hall.
If you’re planning an intimate winter wedding or elopement, the Fireside Room is hands-down one of the coziest spaces at Sunriver. With a dramatic stone fireplace, vaulted wood ceilings, and antler chandeliers, it feels like a high-end mountain lodge.
Accommodating 30–40 guests, this space is perfect for couples who want to gather just their nearest and dearest around the fire, share a meal, and dance the night away. The warm wood and rustic charm make it especially magical when there’s snow falling outside.

For couples who love the outdoors and want an all-outdoor wedding, Cove Meadow and Besson Commons will be the best choice. Available from June through September, this space accommodates up to 175 guests and feels like you’re celebrating in the heart of Central Oregon’s meadows.
Cove Meadow sets the stage with a wide, open lawn surrounded by meadows and mountain views—perfect for your ceremony. Besson Commons can be transformed with draped canopies, twinkle lights, and dance floors for a reception under the stars. It’s a versatile space that can feel elegant or laid-back depending on your style.
A quick note: Each of these venues comes with a food and beverage minimum that varies by season and day of the week, and outside catering isn’t allowed. The resort’s culinary team offers everything from plated dinners to buffet-style meals, so you’ll have plenty of options to make it your own.
One of the best parts about getting married at Sunriver is that your guests can all stay right on the property. The resort offers a mix of vacation rental homes, condos, cabins, and luxury honeymoon suites (some even pet-friendly).
Having everyone nearby makes the wedding day (and the entire weekend!) more relaxed and enjoyable, and you don’t need to worry about getting people home or to their hotels at the end of your reception.
Sunriver Resort is a year-round wedding destination, and every season brings its own vibe. Here’s what you can expect throughout the year:
Spring days start to warm up, with highs often reaching the 50s and 60s, while mornings and evenings stay crisp. It is beautiful with meadows beginning to bloom and still having snow-capped peaks in the distance. Spring weddings feel romantic, a little quieter, and perfect if you want beauty without the busyness of the peak summer season at the resort.
Summer is peak wedding season at Sunriver, with long, sunny days and highs averaging in the 70s to 80s, it’s perfect for outdoor ceremonies on the Mt. Bachelor Lawn or Cove Meadow. Imagine saying your vows with golden light pouring over the Cascade Range!
This is also the season when your guests can take full advantage of everything Sunriver has to offer—biking, rafting, golfing, and more.
Fall is another popular season, but it is more underrated than summer. The days are cooler (highs in the 50s–60s), the crowds thin out, and the trees burst into vibrant shades of gold, orange, and red. The air is crisp, the sunsets are stunning, and the vibe is cozy and intimate.
Winter in Sunriver is downright magical. Snow blankets the meadows and pines, Mt. Bachelor looms white and majestic in the background, and the resort glows with cozy fireplaces and twinkle lights. It’s the perfect season for intimate weddings in the Fireside Room or Great Hall, where you can warm up after snowy portraits outside. And if you’re an adventurous couple, Mt. Bachelor is just 25 minutes away for a ski or snowboard elopement add-on. Winter weddings here feel festive, romantic, and full of charm.
One of the biggest perks of choosing Sunriver Resort for your wedding is that it doubles as a destination getaway for you and your guests. With everything from outdoor adventures to cozy relaxation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy before and after your wedding day.
